A Forum on the Empowerment of Women at the United Nations Church Center -September 15, 2010
CFHI is convening a Forum on the Empowerment of Women addressing Millennium Development Goal #3 in conjunction with the opening of the 65th General Assembly of the United Nations. Australian Medical Students' Association Global Health Conference, Hobart, Tasmania, -July 1 - 4, 2010
CFHI will be exhibiting and presenting at the Australian Medical Students' Association Hobart 2010 Global Health Conference.
The theme for the conference being held at the University of Tasmania is Small Steps, Big Picture. CFHI Executive Director, Steven Schmidbauer, will address the students on the opening night of the conferecne and will be available throughout the conference. CFHI alumni will also be present to give first-hand accounts of the CFHI Global Health Immersion experience.
International Volunteering & Service Forum, Brookings Institution, Washington, DC -June 23, 2010
CFHI's Executive Director, Steve Schmidbauer, will be part of the Building Bridges Coalition attending the International Volunteering and Service Forum at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC on June 23rd.
The forum will frame international service as an integral component of “smart power†diplomacy and as a cost effective way to build cross-cultural bridges. Global Health Diplomacy is now a part of the wider efforts to develop Citizen Diplomacy on a greater scale. CFHI will be present to represent its many student volunteers and its global family of health professionals working at the grassroots level in underserved communities.
Increasing Diversity in the Health Professions -June 14-15, 2010
CFHI is an invited participant in The California Wellness Foundation's Conference on Increasing Diversity in the Helath Professions, taking place in San Francisco June 14th and 15th. We will be joining many education and community-based organizations gathering to address issues of awareness and access to careers in the health professions.

Professional Development Training: Empathic Listening for Future Health Professionals --FREE for CFHI Students -March 22 & 29, 2010
CFHI has partnered with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) to provide a FREE 2-session telephone training for past, present, and future CFHI participants. This project is a chance to participate in a cutting edge effort to raise the professionalism and humanism of the healthcare workforce through effective, compassionate communication strategies. This training is designed to specifically target the needs of medical and health professionals.
